SEO 'can enhance brand protection'

Search engine optimisation (SEO) can play a key role in protecting the identity of a brand, according to an expert.

Brand protection is now a key concern for many companies, as they seek to assuage consumer fears over fraudulent online retailers, and combat the bad press which can proliferate from social networking sites, said Kerry McCarthy, SEO specialist at High Position.

A combination of SEO and branded pay per click (PPC) campaigns is the answer to those problems, Ms McCarthy told Marketingweek.co.uk.

"Without an effective campaign to mitigate bad publicity, companies face losing revenue through lost sales and waning public trust," she said.

"The best way to combat negative publicity is to harness organic SEO techniques and combine them with branded PPC campaigns."

Research released in March by the Search Engine Marketing Professional Organisation and Econsultancy revealed that money is frequently being transferred from other sources of marketing to fund SEO and search engine marketing.

Integrating SEO with social media marketing

For an online business to be successful, it needs a good search engine optimization (SEO) campaign. And one of the most effective ways to boost SEO is to integrate it with social media marketing.
This highlights the importance of updated and relevant content. Whenever someone browses your website, they have the option to leave comments and links. In response, you can visit their links and share your own comments in their site while leaving your own link in the process. With the links embedded, you now have a new mechanism that generates traffic.
Social media sites are another platform. Synchronizing your site with Twitter or Facebook will consistently bring clicks to your website. Fellow Twitter and Facebook users will be able to visit your site and share it with others—if they find the content compelling and interesting.
Now that Google has launched its real-time search features, Twitter tweets have more value.

  • Bing places a lot of importance to content, so if your pages have more than 300 words, then you have better chances of ranking higher in Bing.
  • Bing places a lot of importance on relevancy, so if your website is optimized with LSI keywords, then you are likely to be ranked higher in Bing.
  • Bing places more importance on title tags than Google

Search Engine Clashes In China

Google will have more pressure now as the two search engines are competing for the Chinese market. Baidu—the Chinese search engine—will be launching an ad-supported network.

Clash in these two search engines will affect Search Engine Optimization(SEO). Currently, China’s leading search engine is trying to expand in a market filled with tough competitors.

The new Baidu feature will offer licensed content from top media companies. China is one of the few countries wherein Google is not the top search engine and it has limited growth in the online video market, because of the ban on YouTube by the government.

New Google Search Engine Is Launching Soon

As we all know, Microsoft has recently unveiled their new search engine, Bing. So, Google needed to do something to keep their market share of search.

The secret project, known officially as Google Caffeine, wouldn’t change the face or design of the Google search engine, but would provide Google’s web search that would improve its indexing speed, accuracy, and comprehensiveness.

Mashable's conclusion is that "This search is not only faster, but in some instances in our few tests, seems more capable of producing real-time results."

Let's see the new search engine soon.
